The proposed reservoir site is located on clay. The clay can be excavated to create a naturally lined bowl shape. The excavated material that is suitable for construction will be used to construct the embankments on the southern perimeter. The natural clay is impermeable, providing ideal lining material. As a result the need to import materials to construct the reservoir will be minimised.
