Meet Lucie, HR & Training Officer

What do you love about your job?

My favourite part of my job is the variety that comes with it. I enjoy problem solving, contributing towards improving employees lives e.g. new policies and procedures and having the opportunity to get to know my colleagues as my job is very people orientated.

What led you to your role at Portsmouth Water?

I started working in Customer Services for a few years where I gained valuable Customer Service and Administration skills and my initial knowledge of the company. Then, an opportunity for a secondment training position in HR became available which I applied for and was lucky enough to be offered. I did this for a year, where I further developed my skills and gained a lot more knowledge of the company and it's employees. A year later, my secondment became permanent and I also took on employee lifecycle work. Key experiences that have shaped my career are being involved in massive changes throughout the company, such as the pay review July 2023, as they are challenging, but rewarding once complete.

What makes your job different?

I get to know people all around the company and have the opportunity to positively impact the company culture from my involvement in policies and procedures.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career with Portsmouth Water?

I would say JUST DO IT! There are so many different areas you can work in, once your foot is in the door the world is your oyster. There are many opportunities and the support to progress your career.

What is your most memorable project at Portsmouth Water?

I am currently involved in creating new onboarding processes which will have a massive impact to the company as it is modernising processes to be more user friendly and will create smoother employee experiences. Streamlining our processes will give me the opportunity to get more involved with employee relations and progress my career.
